I'm not saying you HAVE to count, but-------

Over the weekend I had a few people that told me that they don’t count they just do what they do--- HUH? So for those of you who don’t count, of think you’re just going to get up and do what you want---your dance card is going to be quite empty. And here’s the reason why: First don’t get hung up on the fact that we have you count, this instills uniformity in the dance. Now learning it that way, you can go to Cali, and get a dance, you can go to Detroit, ATL, Chicago and get a dance. Now if you get up there and decide that you’re going to do whatever YOU want to do, and call it Steppin’, that’s not going to work. Just as EVERY other dance Salsa, Tango, Foxtrot, Detroit Ballroom, Bop, River Dancing, Square Dancing, and many African dances all have Rules, and counting involved to keep that uniformity. Anywhere you go it’s the same. AND so is the Chicago Step. You can’t just make up stuff as you go along calling it “Freestyle”. If that’s the case I can get up there and just run in a circle and call it Steppin’. I know you CAN get up there and do what you want, but it’s going to cause some damage. Let’s look at it this way, here in America we all drive on the right side of the road. We all follow those same set of rules that were laid out when we took our drivers course. That course is the same all over the US. You can get in your car and drive to all the 50 states, with those same set of rules without any problems. Now let’s say you get up one morning, and you decide that you’re going to drive anyway YOU want to and call it “Free Styling”. You don’t stop at STOP signs, or red lights, you drive on the sidewalk, you drive the wrong way down a one-way street, and you decide that you want to drive down the freeway in a big S pattern. Although you CAN do those things, you’re going to cause some damage somewhere. These steppin rules are in place so that you’re able to dance regardless of where you are, and not just with a handful of people.

So if you’ve learned a different way, or a different style, again Class is always open. Everyone goes back to school for something, as the job changes, technology changes, you buy a new phone—now you have to learn how that works. Things change and progress for the better all the time, and so can we. Now somebody tell me how to change this darn ring tone-----

Once class is over, there's open dancing and you'll be able to practice what you've learned.

WOW!! We finally have a nice smoke free, fun place to go on Friday's. 1707 W. Broadway Phoenix--where there's Steppin music for us, played by US. :-) Come down check it out, and see for yourself, we're there from 6pm until. Class is from 6PM to 8PM, as one Papa smurf once said--You'll walk in, buy you'll step out.

I had a ball !!!!

Well the Vegas trip was just outstanding! I had a super super time. I'm currently trimming down all the videos I took. I'll get them posted in a day or so. I met some really nice people, and enjoy a ton of great dances.

Friday class ???

OH yeah Friday class at the Hole in the Wall in the final talks, and it's looking good---- PHOENIX GET YO' STEP ON

I have some really great news, and a little bad news. First with the BAD---I was incorrect earlier, THERE IS A $5 COVER CHARGE FOR THE NEW PLACE ON FRIDAYS. SORRY I JUST FOUND OUT LIKE 5 MINUTES AGO. However, that $5 will cover you for the FREE Buffett. There goes that word again FREE. J Yes, there’s still a 2 drink minimum, but now worries there right? Now, I hope you’re sitting down because here it comes

Now for the GREAT NEWS-----THERE’S GOING TO BE A STEP CONTEST HELD CURRENTLY EVERY 2 WEEKS HELD AT Hollywood’s Hole in the Wall club on Fridays. BAMM Currently starting NEXT WEEK. But after next week there will be, the preliminaries one week, then the contest the following week. And the prize---$100. YEAH BABY SIGN ME UP EVERY WEEK----WAIT NOT SO FAST--- To make it fair for everyone, there’s a plan in place to be able to spread it out to avoid ---say ME WINNING every week, or Charles, or Byron, or whomever from winning EVERY WEEK. Who wants to see that? Also, it’s not only just dancing, you’ll have to be dressed nice too, yeah getting back to OLD SCHOOL. So if you think you’re going to come in wearing jeans and a shirt, and win ---WRONG !!!!

Now for all those that have been practicing, now it’s time to show what you’ve learned, and you could even win back ALL THE MONEY YOU’VE PUT INTO LEARNING. That’s how, and what I did. AND REMEMBER THIS IS ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN. IF YOU DON’T WIN, OR DIDN’T WIN, GO HOME PRACTICE SOME MORE, AND TRY AGAIN NEXT TIME. As always, I’ll be there to help you along the way, if you choose.

Counting Down

Good Evening Steppers,

Well, it's getting closer and closer until the Grand Re-Opening of the Elk's. That class will resume on Thursdays. And also, the Saturday classes and locations have been found. Working out the last minute details, but for the most part, it's a go! Now we're going to make AZ a dance Meca---. We're going to have Chicago Steppin, Detroit Ballroom, and Detroit Bop added to the mix here. Let's get out, and have some fun, as life is short. REMEMBER NEVER PUT THINGS OFF UNTIL LATER, AS LATER NEVER COMES. For those who start early, will reap early rewards.
